Left 4 Dead
Anyone playing the demo or going to buy it?
I think that in December I might try it if it turns out to be awesome. Because, well, I didn't get a chance to play a "good" game without a headset...

I'm tempted but I'll probably pass. It looks like it'd probably only be fun if you were playing in a big group of friends and my friends don't seem interested.

It’s going to be great. The thing about Left 4 Dead is that you have to remember the Mod community is going to be immense. Since it’s pretty much the Half Life (source engine community), and I can expect tons of content down the road for the PC version. All you have to do is make a L4D map and a few static scripted sequences to which the AI director takes care of the rest. In addition, I think Valve had stated they will be getting the updates out much faster for L4D compared to that of Team Fortress 2.

A few of us here tried it on the hardest difficulty. Kinda easy...here's hoping they bump it up for the rest of the game. Otherwise it's melee-bang-melee-bang-melee-yawn-bang.
It can be pretty scary and intense I guess, but it's hard for me to tell: this is coming from someone who lives for Silent Hill and FEAR.

Yeah you’re right Bryant about the difficulty. The sub-way map was pure hell on expert difficulty at times (played it more then one play through). The problem is that easy feel’s like it should not be there at all. Normal feels like easy and so on for the rest of the modes. The only exception is expert at times when the AI director starts swarming you with boss AI and hordes.
They should have a nightmare difficulty just for the kicks; of course, we have yet to see the final level of No Mercy yet. The semi-finale in the sub-way level was smaller then the actually finally for one of the chapters. Moreover, you have to remember that versus mode is not running to which you play as one of the boss infected (excluding the witch).

Left4Dead is a shooter first, a co-op game second, and a horror game last. It's not supposed to make you piss yourself.

Chill out. I'm only saying that having been subjected to numerous other horrors in the gaming world, I haven't been able to tell how "scary" Left 4 Dead is (and why make it a zombie game without the intent to be frightening, anyways?) Being swarmed from all sides was at first a bit overwhelmingly stressful (very nice to feel in a horror game), I will say.

I was just pointing that out. No anger involved - just seems that a lot of people have misconceptions about the game. Now that the game is public beta though I think it will all be cleared up. But who knows, maybe the final levels of the game will be scary as shit. At the very least it's guaranteed to be fun and intense as hell.

This game will be a lot harder than a lot of you think. The subway level is actually only 50% of the real level, as you go through the exit door in the demo, theres another exit door, that actually takes you to the rest of the level in the real game (you can check it out through no clip) and leads you to the sewers.
In the full game, the final level of each chapter has 2 tanks and can have a witch.
So yea, basically in the real game everyones gonna be playing Advanced cause imagine trying to make it through 3.5 more chapters with the stuff you have at the end of the demo level lol.
(This game rules btw)

I think this game is the best of Valve games ATM. Of course, not as huge as TF2 (because 12 vs 12 or 8 vs 8 = awesome-sauce), but in terms of ZOMG THAT WAS AWESOME!! it's the best.
But the requirements should clearly say - MICROPHONE OR A HEADSET. Otherwise, you are hurting yourself and your team.

Bought, preloaded, and ready to kick some zombie ass. I played the demo about 70-80x now. I adore L4D. The AI Director is genius, period. More games need it...

Everything except expert is boring. Waiting for the full version because the demo campaign has gotten repetitive.

Very fun game.
If you enjoy L4D, I suggest the zombie game in the new Call of Duty.

Still too easy, still too repetitive. Retail experience isn't much better than the demo was. Fun game for a while, but worth $50...? Not really. Maybe after they pump out some updates.
